One of our Apprentices, Mitchell McCarthy, participated in the WorldSkills Australia National Competition recently. WorldSkills challenges young people, teachers, trainers and employers to achieve world class standards in work skills and ensure the younger generation has the skills and abilities to compete in the global marketplace. Regional competitions flow into national competitions and operate on a two year cycle attracting 500 competitors, competing in 50 categories.
Mitchell’s task was to manufacture a range hood duct with a cone attached. To do this he needed to develop the pattern layout, cut out the components and weld the final assembly together. Marks were allocated for each element of the project. Well done to Mitchell for putting in a superb effort!
